The beginning of 2025 marked an important stage in the development of the “Together We Can” project – an initiative aimed at empowering grassroots leaders and young change-makers in Ukraine. In February and March, we carried out a series of key events across six regions – Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Chernivtsi, and Zaporizhzhia – bringing together people committed to making a difference.
More than just presentations – meaningful dialogue
Each round table became a unique space for connection, discussion, and co-creation. Government officials, civil society actors, educators, students, and youth workers gathered to learn more about the project and share their experiences, challenges, and ideas.
The format included:
- introductions by regional coordinators,
- presentations of ambassador initiatives,
- open discussions around regional needs and possible solutions,
- informal networking.
These meetings allowed us to collect valuable insights from the ground and foster regional partnerships to support lasting change.
A new wave of ambassadors: local leadership in action
While regional events were taking place, we launched an open call for new ambassadors. Dozens of applications poured in, and after a competitive selection process, we welcomed a powerful cohort of new voices to our ambassadorial community.
They are educators, librarians, NGO leaders, students, trainers – people with hands-on experience and strong roots in their local communities. Their pilot projects cover a wide range of topics:
- media literacy and podcasting;
- youth mental health and wellbeing;
- peacebuilding and dialogue across differences;
- youth leadership and civic engagement.
Their ideas are already being turned into action – in classrooms, libraries, youth hubs, and town squares.
This is more than a project – it’s a movement
Together, we’ve built more than just an implementation plan. We’ve sparked a vibrant community that shares, collaborates, and supports each other. Round tables became a launchpad for long-term relationships and locally driven change – and we’re just getting started.
The project is implemented by the Human Rights Foundation with the support of the IFA ZIVIK Programme, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
