Summary of the Summer Camp “Youth. Peace. Security in Ukraine”: Civic Actions and Advocacy for 2250
From June 30 to July 3, 2025, the summer camp “Youth. Peace. Security in Ukraine” took place as part of the “Together We Can” program. It brought together young leaders from the Chernivtsi, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Cherkasy regions. The participants had the opportunity to dive into important issues of international youth policy, gender equality, inclusion, and security in times of war.
What happened at the camp?
Over the four days, participants took part in lectures, workshops, and interactive exercises covering key aspects of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 (youth participation in peacebuilding processes, protection, conflict prevention, partnership, and integration).
What was discussed?
- The first day was dedicated to participant introductions, as well as lectures on the basics of UN Security Council Resolution 2250. There were exercises on identifying gender stereotypes and discussions about the importance of inclusion in youth policy.
- The second day focused on the humanitarian challenges for youth in wartime and post-war recovery. Participants discussed the importance of values and tolerance in society.
- The third day was dedicated to youth self-organization through civil society initiatives and youth involvement in shaping youth policy in Ukraine.
- The fourth day
participants worked on creating roadmaps for 2250 for their communities. They developed projects to implement the principles of “Youth. Peace. Security” in the real context of their regions. Participants also presented their ideas and discussed how to implement them locally.
The importance of this camp
This camp was a significant step in the development of youth civic activism, fostering leaders who are ready to actively work on the peaceful rebuilding of their communities. All participants gained practical tools and knowledge to implement their initiatives aimed at creating a better future.
Although the camp has ended, the “Human Rights Foundation” NGO continues its work in this direction, supporting youth initiatives and contributing to the strengthening of peace and security in Ukraine. We are confident that the participants will apply their new knowledge and skills to bring positive change to their communities.
The project is implemented by the “Human Rights Foundation” NGO within the “Together We Can” program with the support of IFA and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
