Media Literacy Trainings: A Path to Enhancing Critical Thinking and Information Security “Together We Can”

The “Together We Can” project, implemented by the Human Rights Foundation with the support of the IFA Zivik Programme and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, conducted a series of media literacy trainings in various regions of Ukraine. Participants gained practical skills for effectively working with the media and creating a healthy information environment.

💡 Chernivtsi Region
On May 16, in Vyzhnytsia, the training was conducted by Vitaliya Kozmenko. Participants focused on identifying disinformation, fact-checking algorithms, and creating their own content. Special attention was given to the issues of modern information space and the threats it poses, particularly among youth. 🔍

🌟 Sumy Region
On May 16 in Sumy, the training was led by Marina Osukhina. During the event, participants worked with the trainer on recognizing toxic content and effective strategies for working with the media in wartime. The program included exercises on developing communication strategies and discussing the impact of fake news on society. 📰

🧠 Kirovograd Region
On May 20 in Kropyvnytskyi, the training was conducted by Oksana Tkachenko. Participants learned how to combat disinformation, use artificial intelligence in media, and check facts using modern tools. A special focus was placed on working with fake news and manipulations in the media space. 🤖

📚 Zaporizhzhia Region
On April 22 in Zaporizhzhia, the training was led by Iryna Tonkih. The training focused on how to recognize dangerous content and identify sources of disinformation. Participants learned to identify clickbait, studied methods of combating phishing and manipulation, and received useful tips for recognizing paid content. 🚫

💻 Chernihiv Region
On June 13 in Chernihiv, the training was conducted by Oksana Stelmakh and Yulia Peretyatko. Participants focused on critical media consumption during the war, studied manipulation tools and propaganda, and worked on cybersecurity and action algorithms. The exercises helped develop skills to protect against manipulation in the media. 🔐

🎙️ Cherkasy Region
On June 3 in Cherkasy, the training was conducted by Olga Rylova. Participants learned about journalism standards during the war, practiced formulating responsible media messages, and discussed how to avoid falling for manipulations. Special attention was given to the influence of media on public opinion and working with visual content. 📸

These trainings were an important step in enhancing media literacy and critical thinking among community leaders, journalists, and bloggers throughout Ukraine. They help develop the ability to analyze and verify information in the context of information warfare.
